This guide provides you with the basic information and best practices guidelines you'll need to integrate JeraSoft VCS billing software. There are two main technical ways of collecting the call data from any switch system: via the xDR-files or via the RADIUS-server.
1) xDR-files import
Advantages: high reliability and stability, no calls information may be lost due to server or client side;
Disadvantages: the data is received with delays because the files are copying at the defined periods of time.
Advantages: data is received in real-time mode (i.e., the call packet is sent right after the end of the call), call authorization procedure, possibility to use advanced routing features;
Disadvantages: when network or server hardware is unstable, possible loss of data (although, this data can be restored later with xDR-files).
It is possible to combine both methods, but take into account the capability of your switching equipment, because not all equipment can support both these methods at once. Some gateways support only one integration type (for example, Cisco gateways do not write any xDR files, so integration is possible only through RADIUS).
